An 'Eagles Nest' patch has floated around in patch collections for years, with the current collectors knowledge of the patch origin being somewhat vague. Many questions, few answers, until a meeting with someone who had some 'paper' and then a day spent at the Peoria Library researching vintage Peoria newspapers. Read this short summary of the earliest Eagle Scouts from Peoria and a group they formed called the Eagles Nest in the late 1920s. And then the resurrection of the groups' name in 1943.

Camp Wokanda 80th Anniversary Celebration
Camp Wokanda, 620 E. Boy Scout Rd, Peoria. Sat, July 15, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and Sunday, July 16, Noon - 4:00 pm. The Peoria Park District and the SHSCI are teaming up to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Camp Wokanda. Camp tours, memorabilia displays, a 1940s campsite and modern campsite will be displayed, and an historical slideshow will run continuously throughout, with photos from the opening, in July of 1937 until present day.
